About the Exam

What is IELTS?

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is one of the world's most recognised English proficiency exams. Trusted by over 10,000 organisations globally — including universities, employers, immigration authorities and professional bodies — it's the first step toward studying, working or migrating to English-speaking countries like the UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.

IELTS is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP Education and Cambridge Assessment English, and uses real human examiners and natural accents — a different scoring approach from AI-evaluated tests. Dr Ahmed's coaching prepares you for exactly what examiners are listening and looking for.

  • Three modules available: Academic, General Training and IELTS for UKVI
  • Scored on a 0–9 band scale across all four skills
  • Face-to-face Speaking interview with a real examiner
  • Unlimited attempts allowed — minimum 3-day wait between tests
  • Results valid for 2 years from the test date

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything About IELTS

Quick answers to the most common questions about preparing for and taking IELTS.

How do I prepare for IELTS?
Start by understanding the test format — Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Build your skills with official practice materials and regular mock tests, focusing on grammar, vocabulary and time management. For guided preparation with expert feedback, Dr Ahmed's coaching programme covers every module step by step.
How long is an IELTS score valid?
IELTS scores are valid for 2 years from the test date. After that, most institutions and visa authorities will no longer accept the result for admissions or applications, and you'll need to retake the test.
How much time do I need to prepare for IELTS?
On average, 6 to 8 weeks of focused study is enough for most students, though this depends on your current English level and target band score. With consistent effort and structured coaching, some students prepare effectively in as little as 3 months from a stronger starting point.
What is the difference between IELTS Academic and General Training?
IELTS Academic is for university admissions and professional registration, with academic-style Reading and Writing tasks. IELTS General Training is for work, migration or secondary education, focusing on everyday social and workplace English. Listening and Speaking are the same in both modules.
Can I reschedule my IELTS exam?
Yes, IELTS exams can usually be rescheduled, though this typically needs to be done at least 5 weeks before your test date. A rescheduling fee may apply depending on the policy of your test centre — always confirm directly with the British Council, IDP or your local provider.
How is IELTS different from PTE?
IELTS is controlled by the British Council, IDP Education and Cambridge Assessment, with a real human examiner for Speaking and natural communication style. PTE is run by Pearson and is fully computer-delivered with AI-based scoring across all sections. Both are widely accepted — the right choice depends on whether you prefer a human interview or a fully digital, fast-results format.
Is a 7.5 IELTS score difficult to achieve?
Scoring 7.5 requires strong, consistent English skills and focused preparation — particularly in Writing and Speaking, which tend to be the hardest sections to push higher. It's achievable for most committed students with structured coaching and regular mock test practice, but it isn't something most people reach without real, targeted effort.
How many times can I take IELTS?
There's no limit on the number of attempts, but you must wait a minimum of 3 days between sittings. Many test centres also offer a One Skill Retake option in some locations, letting you retake just one section instead of the full test.
